What is Fletcher Towelwork®?

Fletcher Towelwork®, developed by Pilates Master Ron Fletcher over the past 4 decades, is a signature feature of the Fletcher Pilates® Program. Created to stabilize and balance the shoulder girdle in standing posture and during upper body movement, basic Towelwork can be taught to beginners as an easy and effective home exercise program. Fletcher Towelwork® is versatile and can
be adapted to seated positions. A complete Fletcher Towelwork® movement program ranges from simple stabilizing and range of motion exercises to beautifully complex movement patterns that challenge the advanced student, teacher, and athlete alike.

How is this Course structured?

Fletcher Towelwork® has two levels:
1) Licensing Course
2) Advanced Course
The Fletcher Pilates® ABC’s Course is a pre requisite to the Licensing Course.
The Licensing Course is a pre requisite for the Advanced Course.

What are the benefits of taking this course?

The Fletcher Towelwork® can help:

  1. Enhance stabilization of the shoulder girdle;
  2. Increase expansion of the anterior chest and shoulder muscles;
  3. Correct forward head posture;
  4. Increase range of motion in the thoracic and cervical spine;
  5. Prepare the shoulder girdle for weight bearing work.

How much does this Course cost?

The course fees are as follow:

1 day ABC’s Course S$400

1 day Licensing Course S$800

1.5 days Advanced Course S$1,000

The above fees are inclusive of instruction and licensing by a comprehensively trained teacher and one copy of the course manual.
(Prices subject to changes without prior notice)

Who should take this Course?

This Course is designed primarily for Pilates and other movement therapy teachers, but also provides an excellent continuing education opportunity for Physical and Massage Therapist as well as Personal and Athletic Trainers.

Students are required to attend the Fletcher Pilates® ABC’s Course before the Licensing Course. And the Licensing Course is a pre requisite to the Advanced Course.

May I take the Fletcher Towelwork® Course if I do not work or teach in a related profession?

YES! We welcome intermediate/advanced students of a variety of movement disciplines to take this course for personal information and practice. Should you have questions or concerns as to whether this course is appropriate for you, please contact the number(s) given for each location.

  • Athletic Trainer

All qualifying individuals must bring documentation of current professional license or ceritificate in order to participate in the Licensing portion of this course.

To find out whether you are eligible to license to teach this work, please contact number(s) given per location.

How much is the Fletcher Towelwork® licensing fee?

How long will my Fletcher Towelwork® license be valid for?

For example, if you successfully complete the licensing requirements in April 2010, your initial license will be valid through December 2011 - at which point you will be eligible to renew your license. Licenses may be renewed on a yearly basis.

How do I maintain my Fletcher Towelwork® license?

It’s easy! To maintain your annual Fletcher Towelwork® license, you are required to take private sessions or group classes (for a total of 3 hours) focused on the Towelwork with a Qualified Fletcher Teacher. This session should be documented, signed by your teacher, and submitted to the Ron Fletcher Company at the time of renewal. It is strongly suggested that you take the advanced Fletcher Towelwork® Advance Course to further your education and understanding of this work. You must also renew your license by paying the annual licensing fee of US$50.

What should I bring to this course?

A Fletcher Braided Towel, which may be purchased at www.fletcherpilates.com or through your Fletcher Pilates Teacher… and a desire to learn!
